IMPD investigate shooting of 13-year-old
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A 13-year-old girl was shot in the leg early Saturday morning.
Capt. Richard Riddle with IMPD says the shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Glen Arm Road. Shots were fired outside the house, but some made their way inside hitting the teen.
A CBS4 crew on scene observed bullet holes and busted out glass in a window at the apartment. Investigators were at the home but left in the 6 a.m. hour.
Police say she suffered a wound to the upper thigh. She was taken to Riley Hospital for Children.
According to Capt. Riddle, the teen’s mother told officers the shooter was the mother’s ex-boyfriend. It is unclear who the intended target of the shooting was.
The suspect’s name and description have not been released. Police say he drove away after firing at the house.
Authorities believe he’s on the road, heading to Hammond, in northwestern Indiana, in a gray Chevrolet Equinox.
