Update– The Hamburg Township Police Department says Amanda Hayward and Sapphire Palmer were found safe in Florida. The girl is now in protective custody by Florida Child Protective Services.

HAMBURG TOWNSHIP, MI – An Amber Alert was issued on Thursday for a missing 7-year-old girl, and it is believed that she is with a registered sex offender.
The Hamburg Township Police Department issued a plea for the public’s help in locating a missing woman and her daughter Wednesday afternoon. Amanda Elizabeth Hayward, 30, and Sapphire Palmer, 7, were last seen leaving their Hamburg Township home on May 10. They left in a black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm.
The contents of Hayward’s purse were found on the side of the road several miles from their home at 6:30 a.m. on May 10.
Around 6 p.m. on Wednesday police located Hayward’s car in Ypsilanti Township, and it was unoccupied.
Hamburg Township Police issued an update on 11 a.m. on Thursday, and they believe Hayward and her daughter are traveling in a red 2001 Ford Escape with Michigan license Plate “2HVA18” with Douglas Steven Stanko, 64. According to police, Stanko is an old acquaintance and a registered sex offender.
