INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer was arrested Thursday after a long-term investigation, police say.

Michael Hill, 45, was arrested on a warrant for perjury, obstruction of justice and delivery of a false sales document, all level 6 felonies.

Investigators say Hill is accused of submitting paperwork with his signature to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) with false information for the purchase of a 2014 Ford F-150 truck and a boat.

Court documents say Hill signed forms which indicated selling prices for the vehicles less than the actual purchase price. Hill is also alleged to have provided false documents to an investigator.

Hill has been employed with IMPD for 17 years, and was most recently assigned to the Southwest District. He has been suspended without pay with a recommendation of termination.

In 2007, he was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). He served one day in prison and the rest of his one-year sentence was served on probation.

HIll has an initial hearing in court scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday
