BEECH GROVE, Ind. – A thief pointed a gun at a young mom while she’s holding her 1-year-old son. Beech Grove Police say the thief then stole the mom’s car.

Investigators believe the armed carjacker wasn’t even old enough to drive.

“I’m just so glad my baby was okay, that’s all I could think about,” said the carjacking victim.

On Tuesday evening, the 20-year-old victim told police she had just gotten home from the grocery store and was unloading her car when a teenage boy approached her.

“He said ‘ma’am’ and I said, ‘ya’ and he asked me for directions to a nearby apartment complex,” said the carjacking victim.

Seconds after she started helping the teenage boy, the young mom realized she was in trouble.

“He pulled out the gun, cocked it and pointed it at me and said ‘give me your keys’ so I gave him my keys because I had my baby in my arms,” said the carjacking victim.

The Beech Grove mom told police the thief looked young and by the way he was driving it didn’t seem like he was even old enough to drive.

Investigators say the thief hit three parked cars before he was able to steer the car in the right direction to take off.  “I just told him to stop I just told him to stop, ‘you have to stop driving, stop,’” said the carjacking victim.

The young mom didn’t want her face shown or her name disclosed because the whole thing still worries her.

“I don’t wish it on anybody it’s so scary. It’s the low of the low, I mean obviously they don’t care about humanity, nothing.” said the carjacking victim.

Earlier Tuesday night, authorities received a report of an attempted carjacking in Franklin Township.  Investigators are looking into the possibility that the two crimes are connected.
