UPDATE (March 10, 2017) — Amir Sanders pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery taking property by force or threatening the use of force while armed. He was sentenced to 12 years, with 7 years in the Department of Correction, 3 years in Marion County Community Corrections and 2 years on probation.

LAWRENCE, Ind. – Three people were arrested after police say they held up a Village Pantry in Lawrence and shot at a BP Connect clerk in Indianapolis Sunday.

Amir Sanders, 23, Edward Chandler, 19, and Marquette Holloway, 18, have all been charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, kidnapping and criminal confinement.

Lawrence police responded to the Village Pantry at 5190 North Franklin Road just after midnight to investigate a report of an armed robbery in progress.

The first officer to arrive entered the business and encountered two of the suspects wearing bandanas around their faces. The officer directed the suspects to surrender. The suspects were taken into custody as other officers arrived on scene.

As officers investigated, they found two guns on the counter, one of which had been reported stolen in November 2015. Officers found the business’ employees in a back office, shaken but unharmed.

Officers also arrested a third person in a vehicle parked across the street, who is believed to be the driver of the vehicle they planned to escape in. That vehicle was registered to a family member of one of the suspects inside the Village Pantry.

The three suspects were also charged for shots fired at a clerk at the BP Connect convenience store. That incident happened earlier in the day at Brookville Road and South Post Road in Indianapolis.
