NEW YORK — Kroger is holding a nationwide hiring event to fill 14,000 open jobs across all its supermarket chains, including Ralphs, Fred Meyer and Food 4 Less.
Candidates can apply online and show up to a store Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for an interview.
Many of the openings are for part-time associates who bag groceries, stock shelves or ring up items at the cash register.
The company says the jobs are permanent.
The Kroger Co., based in Cincinnati, has nearly 2,800 stores, including Baker’s, Pay Less and King Scoopers.
The company says it created 9,000 new jobs last year and 20,000 new jobs in 2014. The 14,000 open jobs that it is currently looking to fill are a mix of new and old positions.
A spokesperson for Kroger said in April 2015, an announcement was made about half a billion dollars in store projects and 3,400 new jobs coming to central Indiana. The company has since expanded that to more than 4,000 new jobs by end of 2017.
For this current national hiring day, several hundred jobs are open in central Indiana and several hundred more are open in the rest of the state.
