INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The search continues for armed suspects following a trio of overnight robberies.

Indianapolis police say the same suspects robbed three east side gas stations in less than 3 hours.

The first robbery happened around 1:45 a.m. at Speedway, 7339 Pendleton Pike. About 30 minutes later, robbers struck at another gas station at 2485 N. Post Rd. They then robbed a third gas station at 21st Street and Mitthoefer around 4:15 a.m.

In the third robbery, one shot was fired through a door in the office. No one was hurt.

A bullet tore through a glass door after two armed thieves opened fire first and demanded money second.

“They are very dangerous.  They’re violent guys.   They didn’t ask for anything before they fired the shot,” said store owner Dave Thind.

Video from inside Dave’s store shows the two suspects from a distance.

Fearing for his life, the clerk quickly handed over some cash to the armed crooks.

In less than a minute, the suspects ran out of the store after repeatedly threatening the clerk with violence.

“They said ‘If you don’t give us money, we’re going to shoot again,’” said Thind.

Thind also says this third suspect wearing a colorful shirt served as a lookout for the two other thieves, waiting until all the customers left the store to commit the crime.

“Once all the customers went out, he gave them the green light to come in,” said Thind.

Before that robbery, police say the same suspects robbed a Speedway station on Pendleton Pike.  30 minutes later they robbed this Circle K on Post Road.

Witnesses gave similar descriptions of the suspects during each robbery, and Indianapolis Metropolitan police believe the robberies are related after watching surveillance video. Two men were seen getting into an older, two-door white car with the same getaway driver.

Dave agrees with police, the public will be a lot safer if someone helps get the suspects off the streets.

“When there are multiple incidents in a row and we see an escalation, it’s important to get these guys off the streets so we don’t see anyone get hurt,” said IMPD officer James Gillespie.

“This is a crazy thing.  We need to get these guys as soon as we can.  Before they can hurt anybody, we need to put those guys behind bars,” said Thind.

The clerk was not hit by the gunfire and is okay.

Anyone with information about the robberies should call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
