Runners and city preparing for the 2016 One America 500 Festival Mini-Marathon
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind — Final preparations are underway for the 40th running of the 2016 One America 500 Festival Mini-Marathon.
With the race just days away, officials are readying themselves for the nearly 40,000 runners that will converge on the streets Saturday starting at 7 a.m for the Finish Line 500 Festival 5K run and the One America 500 Festival Mini-Marathon starting at 7:30 a.m.
All runners are required to attend the Mini-Marathon Expo for a bib number and packet pick-up. Runners must have their bib number (found on the confirmation email they received in April) to receive their race packet. Those who forget their bib number can look it up when they get to the packet pick-up. You must have a photo ID to look-up your bib number at the Expo Hall 1 at the Indiana Convention Center either Thursday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., May 5, 2016 or 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016.
You may pick up a packet for a friend however you need to make sure you have their bib number and a copy of their photo ID.
Drivers in downtown Indianapolis can expect some streets on the race route to close as early as Friday evening after the rush hour and most of the race route streets will close by 3 a.m. Saturday morning. http://www.halfmarathons.net/course-map-500-festival-mini-marathon/
With the starting line at Washington and West Street for runners, drivers in downtown can expect restrictions on street parking from late Friday night until late Saturday night along the race route.
IndyGo bus officials are also reminding riders that service to certain areas along the race route will be severely altered on Saturday from 5 a.m. till late Saturday afternoon. This would apply to bus routes west of the White River from Washington Street to 38th as well as routes in downtown west of Pennsylvania from Washington Street to 10th Street.
