INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – CBS4 This Morning is kicking off a fun, new series with Yelp to give you an inside look at local businesses in our community. Anchor Nicole Pence will bring you a new feature story every Wednesday on CBS4 This Morning for Nicole In Your Neighborhood.
The series kicks off in the Fletcher Place neighborhood downtown to check out a cool eatery that got its start on four wheels.
From a food truck to brick and mortar, Spice Box is now spicing things up in Fletcher Place.
Mo and Nitin Naideu started Spice Box to showcase their Indian heritage.
"We wanted to share the food that we grew up with. It is fast, casual service and simple items with our own twists," explained owner Moumita Naideu.
Brittany Smith from Yelp Indy says Yelpers give Spice Box high reviews.
"Modern twist on Indian food that you`ve never seen before," Smith said.
The online reviews on Yelp highlight the great customer service and fresh ingredients. And, there's one dish in particular Hoosiers order up.
"Yelpers are loving this place especially for the Channa Masala. It is one of the top-rated dishes you will find here. It is savory chickpea stew. They put that with a spice rice, which is spicy version at Spice Box or you can go with the basmati rice," Smith said.
A meal at Spice Box will cost you between $7 to $10, made to order.
And, don't forget the prosecco. The owners think Indian food and prosecco pair perfectly. Prosecco is on tap at Spice Box. For $5, you get a hefty pour!
"We love prosecco. My husband and I are big fans in general. When we tried it with our food especially the Channa Chicken Masala. It a unique concept, especially in this area," says Moumita Naideu.
Next door to Spice Box in the Fletcher Place neighborhood, you'll find bakeries including Amelia's and breweries like Chilly Water Brewing. Bluebeard is also an award-winning restaurant in the neighborhood that focuses on farm to table dishes.
There's also a new arcade bar in Fletcher Place called Tappers Arcade Bar.
Every spot in Fletcher Place is easily accessible from the Cultural Trail which Yelpers appreciate.
"Fletcher Place is a super up and coming neighborhood. You can bike from downtown all-around the neighborhood," Smith said.
