Lafayette infant found in bathtub unconscious, submerged in water
Update (May 5, 2016)– As police continue to investigate the circumstances of this situation, the girl is now off of a ventilator and eating on her own. Police say staff at the hospital indicated there were no medical problems discovered during preliminary tests. The child is expected to be released soon.
LAFAYETTE, Ind.– Lafayette police say an infant is in critical condition after she was found unconscious in a bathtub.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene on Chaffee Court Tuesday around 11:15 a.m. on a report of a child drowning.
A 10-month-old girl was found in the bathtub, unconscious and submerged in water. Her mother began CPR and called 911.
Medics transported the girl to a local hospital before she was flown to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. She is currently listed in critical condition.
