SPEEDWAY, Ind. (April 8, 2016) – An 11-month-old baby girl died after being rushed to the hospital from her day care in Speedway.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the girl Friday as 11-month-old Taliah Brigham. Chief Deputy Coroner Alfie Ballew said the cause and matter of death are still pending.

Speedway police and fire received a 911 call in regards to an unconscious baby on Wednesday around 2 p.m. at Miracles and Blessings Daycare in the 4400 block of West 10th Street.

When police and fire arrived on scene, a day care employee was performing CPR on the baby. Police and fire personnel took over and transported the baby to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

Speedway police investigators spoke with a day care employee, and the employee told them the baby girl was found unconscious in her car seat. Doctors at Riley informed police Thursday that Taliah had died.

Taliah’s father, Troy Brigham, believes the daughter died after she could not breathe while struggling to get out of the car seat.

He said she would not have gotten back into the car seat on her own and believes she was put back in there when the mom left.

Brigham said he didn’t see any scars or bruising on her at the hospital.

Speedway police observed 36 children and one day care worker present at the time of the incident. Indiana DCS responded to the day care and the hospital to investigate.
