Today you'll want to be "Weather Aware" and have your severe weather plan in place. You'll need the umbrella and rain jacket today, with temperatures getting into the 70s along with 40 mph wind gusts outside of thunderstorms.
Here's a timeline for showers and storms today: Through the morning drive we'll see scattered showers with a few heavy downpours. We'll see a lull in the precipitation by lunch time and during the early afternoon.
Isolated T-storms will be possible by the early afternoon, but those storms should stay below severe limits prior to 4 p.m. Between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. we'll be watching a squall line cross the state where some storms may be severe and produce large hail and damaging wind gusts. The tornado threat is low, but not non-existent today.
The SLIGHT risk encompasses all of central Indiana all the way down to the Gulf. Futureview brings the squall line into Indy around 7 p.m.
Cooler air will move in behind this cold front and highs will be in the 50s beginning Friday through the weekend. Sunday will be the sunnier of the two days this weekend.
