INDIANAPOLIS (March 29, 2016) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers are investigating after an early morning shooting on the city’s near northwest side.

Officers responded to the area of West 29th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street on reports of a person shot around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to officers, a dispute between two men led to two shots being fired at a gas station in that intersection.

Police say one of the men was shot in the leg, then drove to the 1100 block of West 31st Street to call police.

A gas station clerk told police he saw two vehicles fleeing the scene after the shooting – one traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. St. and the other traveling the wrong way on West 29th Street.

The gunshot victim was awake and breathing when he was transported to Eskenazi.
