Bloomington police arrest man charged with battery, robbery with a deadly weapon
Update (March 30, 2016) – Bloomington police arrested Starlin at the Steak ‘n Shake on South Liberty Drive in Bloomington as he got into his car. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail on $41,000 bail.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (March 29, 2016) – Bloomington police are searching for a man who allegedly severely beat his ex-girlfriend, stole her purse, and fired a shot in her home.
According to court documents, Shawn Eric Starlin has been charged with burglary with a deadly weapon resulting in injury; robbery with a deadly weapon; two counts intimidation with a deadly weapon; criminal recklessness; battery with a deadly weapon; two counts pointing a firearm; domestic battery; and theft.
On Easter Sunday, police were flagged down by witnesses in a Bloomington apartment complex, and an officer noticed a woman running out of her apartment and bleeding from the head.
According to the victim, Starlin broke into her apartment by kicking the door so hard that it broke the door frame and the door swung open.
Once he was in the apartment, he pointed a gun at her and demanded her keys. When she refused to give him anything, he fired a gunshot through the floor. The victim handed Starlin her purse, and then he pistol whipped her.
Starlin fled from the apartment, and officers were unable to locate him. At that time, police issued a warrant for his arrest.
Starlin is described as a black male, around five feet six inches tall, 160 pounds, and he is bald.
