Men face meth charges, accused of resisting arrest after traffic stop

COLUMBUS, Ind. (March 28, 2016) – A weekend traffic stop led to the arrest of two men on several charges.

According to Indiana State Police, Trooper Robert Hutson conducted a traffic stop around 5:10 p.m. Saturday near 13th Street and McClure Road in Columbus. During the stop, Hutson became suspicious. The driver, Ethan Spray, 21, Scipio, eventually ran off, but Hutson caught up with him.

The passenger, Steven Elliott, 53, Columbus, also resisted before being taken into custody. State police said Hutson was in possession of methamphetamine; Elliot had meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Elliot is charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement. Charges against Spray include possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting law enforcement and obstruction of justice.
