Purdue’s Swanigan declares for NBA Draft but can return to school
INDIANAPOLIS (March 22) — Caleb Swanigan had a successful freshman campaign at Purdue. And it could be his only campaign at the school.
The 6-9, 250-pound forward has declared for the 2016 NBA Draft. Swanigan will not hire an agent, however, leaving open the possibility he could return to Purdue.
By not hiring an agent, the Fort Wayne native can participate in workouts as well as the NBA Draft Combine from May 10-15 in Chicago. After the Combine concludes, he’ll have ten days to either remain in the Draft or withdraw from it. The deadline to make that decision is May 25.
Swanigan averaged 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds in 34 games this season. Those numbers helped earn him a place on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and three Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.
