NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (March 11, 2016)-- One man was saved in an early morning apartment fire thanks to the efforts of the Noblesville Police Department.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Friday, the Noblesville Fire Department was called to the River's Edge Apartments in the 1000 block of Watermead Drive in response to a fire.  As firefighters arrived, they found officers from the Noblesville Police Department had arrived earlier and were able to rescue a man from the burning apartment.

"Noblesville police officers, April Lantz and Corey McGriff, were actually able to pull the gentleman from the apartment, help him get out of the apartment and get him to a safe area," said Todd Estes, from the Noblesville Fire Department.

And, the heroic efforts by officers continued at the scene.

"Jordan Granger also went above and beyond this morning," Estes said. "He was able to scale a balcony to the north of where this fire was and was able to make entry into an apartment to alert those occupants and get them out safely as well," Estes said.

The rescued man was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Fishers in stable condition.  A woman was taken to Riverview Hospital for treatment. Both victims suffered from smoke inhalation.

Two apartments sustained significant damage as fire investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation.
