LAWRENCE, Ind. (Mar. 11, 2016)– Lawrence police confirmed Friday that a 1-year-old boy injured in a crash Tuesday night has died.

The boy, Robert Valentine IV, passed away as a result of the crash, police said.

The boy’s father previously passed away from the crash.  Officials said the father was the driver of a van that crashed into a pickup truck around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police believe the minivan crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Dodge pickup truck. Four kids inside the minivan, ranging in age from 1 to 5 years old, were taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

The boy was in critical condition after the crash and later succumbed to his wounds.

Accident reports show the 1-year-old was in a car seat. According to investigators, none of the other children were buckled in to any type of car seat, booster seat, or seat belt.
