Former IU football player arrested on operating a vehicle while intoxicated charge
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (March 9, 2016)— A former Indiana University football player was arrested on drunk driving charges early Wednesday morning.
Darius Latham was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
An officer with the Indiana University Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Latham’s vehicle after noticing he was driving without headlights near the intersection of E. 10th Street and Indiana Avenue. Upon failing a preliminary breath test and field sobriety tests, the officer transported Latham to the police department, where authorities said he failed to provide a sufficient breath sample during a chemical test.
Latham was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he submitted a blood draw. Around 5:40 a.m., he was booked into the Monroe County Jail. Police say Latham’s BAC is pending lab results.
According to IU Football’s website, Latham declared for the NFL Draft in Dec. 2015. He started 20 times and played in 35 games.
