INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 4, 2016) – The Indianapolis Colts have informed wide receiver Andre Johnson that they are releasing him, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The report comes amid speculation that the team would release the veteran wide receiver after a single season with the team. The 34-year-old signed with the Colts after spending the rest of his career with the Houston Texans.

Last week, reports surfaced that the team would part ways with Johnson, who signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the team last offeason. He finished with 41 receptions, 503 yards and four touchdowns.

In his 13-year career, Johnson ranks No. 8 in NFL history with 1,053 receptions and No. 9 with 14,100 yards. He’s a seven-time Pro Bowl selection. Letting go of Johnson allows the Colts to free up $5 million in salary cap space.
