Matt Hasselbeck

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 28, 2016) – If Matt Hasselbeck returns for an 18th season in the NFL, it will not be with the Colts, according to NFL Media reporter Michael Silver.

Silver reports that the Colts told Hasselbeck he is not in their plans for next year, and instead, Josh Freeman will be Andrew Luck’s backup.

Hasselbeck was a warrior last season, and he was instrumental in keeping the Colts relevant as Andrew Luck missed nine games due to injuries. He won five out of the eight games he started in, and he threw for 1,690 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions.

He also played through a bad intestinal disorder and injuries to his ribs, right shoulder, jaw and back.
