MADISON, Ind. (Feb. 10, 2016) – A former member of the staff at a southern Indiana juvenile correctional facility has been arrested on multiple counts of sexual misconduct.

On Monday, police arrested Kody Hale at his home. Hale, the former recreation leader at Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility, faces three counts of level 5 sexual misconduct and one count of level 4 sexual misconduct involving students at the facility, which houses female adolescents.

After the allegations came to light, Hale was placed on suspension on Jan. 21, 2016. He was fired eight days later. Formal charges were filed with the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday. An IDOC correctional police officer and an Indiana State Trooper served the warrant and arrested Hale, who was taken to the Jefferson County Detention Center.

Superintendent Tim Greathouse described Hale’s arrest as a “serious betrayal of public trust.”

Hale joined the Department of Correction at Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility in June 2013 as a corrections officer. He was promoted to recreation leader in July 2015.
