(February 10, 2016) – It was a very memorable senior night at Franklin Road Academy when their senior manager got in the game and drained a three-point shot. And better yet, he made the shot against his brother who was playing for the opposing team!

According to WTVF, Robert Lewis, who has Down syndrome, has served as team manager at Franklin Road Academy for the school’s football, basketball, and soccer teams for the past four years.

Last Friday was senior night for the basketball team, and coincidentally, Lewis’ brother was on the other school’s basketball team!

Franklin Road Academy was up by 20 points with one minute left, so Coach John Pierce put Lewis in the game.

With Lewis’s brother guarding him, his teammates passed him the ball at the baseline with ten seconds left, and he drained a three-point shot! The crowd erupted and Lewis’ brother and his teammates hugged him. After the game, the crowd rushed the court, and they lifted Lewis in the air!

“I just loved that moment when everybody was so happy for me,” Lewis told WTVF.

“I’ve just never seen so much love in one gym in my life,” said Judy Lewis, Lewis’ mother.
