Teen burglary suspect pulled from pond after fleeing police

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 6, 2016)–A teen fleeing police following a burglary on the east side ends up in a retention pond early Saturday.

Around 5 a.m. Metro police responded to an alarm at the Dollar General Store in the 3600 block of North Mitthoeffer Road.

As officers arrived they spotted a 16-year-old male juvenile running south from the scene.

The suspect fled through a small wooded area and then jumped into a retention pond.

After a short search, the juvenile  was pulled from the pond by an officer.  An ambulance was called to the scene as a precaution.

According to police, the juvenile had taken several cell phones and some candy.

The teen was taken to the Juvenile Center and faces possible charges of burglary, resisting law enforcement and theft.
