Memorial grows at elementary school as mourners prepare to honor principal killed in bus accident

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Ind. – A Lawrence Township principal who died in a crash this week will be laid to rest over the weekend.

Susan Jordan died after a bus jumped the curb and hit her Tuesday afternoon. The bus driver said Jordan pushed students out of the way before she was hit. Two children were hurt.

Jordan served as principal at Amy Beverland Elementary for 22 years. Classes were canceled Wednesday and won’t resume until Monday, Feb. 1. A memorial at the school continues to grow, and CBS4 was invited inside Friday morning to see it.

Mourners can pay their respects to Jordan Friday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church at 86th Street and Meridian Street in Indianapolis. The viewing will take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The funeral is Saturday at 3 p.m. She will have a private burial at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, Ky.
