Early morning apartment fire may be linked to criminal activity
INDIANAPOLIS (January 27, 2016) – Six apartments were evacuated after an early morning fire on Indy’s west side on Tuesday.
Emergency crews responded to a call about smoke in the hallway of an apartment building in the 7800 block of Cimarron Trail shortly before 3 a.m.
When they arrived on scene, firefighters found heavy smoke in the hallway and a working fire in one of the third-floor units.
A fire official says the fire was contained to one apartment, which was severely damaged. Four other units have smoke damage.
According to officials, IMPD officers responded to criminal activity at this apartment complex early Tuesday morning. Officials are looking to see if there is a connection between that activity and the fire.
This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
