NEW CASTLE, Ind. (Jan. 25, 2016) – A semi driver celebrated his birthday by going the wrong way down an interstate ramp before ending up in police custody, Indiana State Police say.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, state troopers were conducting a traffic stop on I-70 eastbound in Henry County near the New Castle exit when they noticed a semi coming toward them going the wrong way.

The troopers drove up to the semi, which was facing west on the eastbound emergency strip at the top of the ramp. They stopped the truck before the driver tried to make an illegal U-turn into eastbound I-70 traffic.

State troopers determined the driver, Pagawan Kingh, 45, Northridge, Calif., was driving impaired. They arrested him on charges of operating while intoxicated and disorderly conduct. He was also issued a ticket for going the wrong way on a one-way road.
