Naked man hit by car on west side
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 25, 2016)– Indiana State Police say a naked pedestrian was struck Monday on the west side of Indianapolis.
Troopers were called to I-465 southbound near 38th Street around 1 p.m. after witnesses said a man was walking on the interstate naked.
According to ISP, the man stopped his car on the shoulder of the interstate, exited and began walking south while taking off his clothes. According to witnesses, the man kept flailing his arms and throwing himself against the interstate’s concrete wall and falling down. He continued to remove his clothes as this was happening.
Before police arrived on the scene, the naked man was struck by a brown 2003 Toyota after walking into traffic. Police said the man was found laying in the roadway, still conscious and breathing. Some people at the scene stopped to help.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
Police believe the man was under the influence of drugs. He was taken to Eskenazi Health with injuries that didn’t appear to be life threatening. Police said the extent of his injuries are unknown.
The unidentified man has been charged with public intoxication and indecent exposure.
