INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 21, 2015) – With Christmas just days away, a team of IMPD officers – with the help of an anonymous donor – are playing Santa today for area residents in need as part of Operation Ho Ho 5-0.

A $20,000 donation from the anonymous Indianapolis businessman to the Indy Public Safety Foundation was used to purchase 200 $100 Visa gift cards from Old National Bank, which waived all service charges and fees.

The gift cards will be distributed by officers at their discretion to residents in their districts – including DPS focus areas – they know are most in need.

“This more than generous donation helps IMPD build relationships and strengthen families during this season of caring and sharing,” said IMPD Chief Rick Hite. “It will also encourage others to assist and give in kind donations.”

The anonymous donor hopes his holiday generosity will inspire other business owners to work with IMPD to build relationships and improve quality of life in the community.

“We are so grateful to the donor and excited to help IMPD spread some cheer this time of year,” said Dane Nutty, Executive Director of the Indy Public Safety Foundation. “We hope to continue building relationships like this with local businesses and individuals to support the men and women of IMPD and others who serve our great city.”
