Clay County, Ind.  ( December 17, 2015)  On Wednesday afternoon just before 3:30p.m.,  Indiana State Police Trooper Brandon Mullen was patrolling US 40 near County Road 425 West, when he radar clocked a gray Pontiac Grand Prix traveling at a speed of 101 mph in a 55 mph zone. Mullen attempted to stop the vehicle, but the Pontiac continued eastbound at a high rate of speed forcing other vehicles off the roadway. The Pontiac then side-swiped another vehicle and spun out in the median near CR 200W.

The driver was immediately taken into custody. During his arrest Trooper Mullen noticed signs of intoxication and attempted to administer a field sobriety test to which the driver refused. A second driver then approached  Mullen and advised him that the impaired driver had rear ended his vehicle near Hulman Airport in Vigo County and then fled the scene.

Patrick H. Ryan Jr., 55, of Brazil, IN., was arrested and charged with, Operating While Intoxicated-Refusal; Reckless Driving; Leaving the Scene of an Accident; and traffic citations for speeding and no valid license.

He was taken to the Clay County Jail awaiting his court appearance.
