Indianapolis gears up for the 8th Indianapolis Monumental Marathon this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  (November 5, 2015) — It’s a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and one of the top 100 marathons in the world and this weekend, thousands of runners will be take to the streets in Indianapolis for the 8th running of the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.

The event is expected to draw over 5,000 runners for the full marathon and almost 10,000 for the half marathon as well as 2,000 runners for the 5k run and Kid’s Fun Run.

The runs start and finish on the grounds of the Indiana State Capitol, with much of the course being flat and fast and weaving its way through landmarks and historical neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis.

Both the full and half marathons will start at 8a.m. and will affect many streets and roads throughout the city until 2 p.m.  Drivers can expect closures to start as early as 7:30 a.m. and will be lifted once that part of the course is cleared of runners.
