INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 2, 2015) – IMPD is searching for a third suspect after a police involved-shooting on the city's west side.

One suspect was shot  at approximately 3:30 p.m. near 19th Street and Dexter Street after a short pursuit.

An off-duty deputy who was having his car looked at for routine maintenance saw a confrontation before seeing a car take off at a high rate of speed. He followed the car to a house and shots were exchanged between the suspect and the deputy.

"He went into the garage to get his vehicle fixed and then he finds himself in a deadly force encounter," said IMPD Sgt. Kendale Adams

The suspect was shot and taken to the hospital in critical condition. He was alert and talking. A second suspect walked into Methodist Hospital on his own with a gunshot wound. Police are not sure at this point how he is connected to the incident.  The third suspect was walking on the street near the scene of the incident.  Members of the community alerted police and he was arrested.  It's unclear how he is involved.

"These officers are 24/7.  It certainty speaks to the volume of our law enforcement and what we encounter on a daily basis," said Adams.

A Marion County deputy was also shot at, but the deputy was not injured. A dog who charged at an officer was shot.

IPS School 44 was on precautionary lockdown for about an hour shortly after the shooting, but it has since been lifted.
