Police search for suspect after attempted robbery, shooting at Castleton Panera Bread

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 23, 2015) – Police were looking for a suspect early Friday morning after an attempted robbery and shooting at a Castleton Panera Bread store.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, the shooting happened at the store on East 82nd Street around 5 a.m. A Panera Bread delivery driver was shot in the neck.

Police said an attempted robbery spurred the shooting although nothing was taken. Police believe the suspect followed the Panera driver into the backdoor and shot him inside the store after a confrontation. According to police, the shooter opened fire in the kitchen area and ran out the back door. Police said the suspect was a black male who's between 180 and 190 pounds and 5'6" to 5'8" with a muscular build. He's 20 to 25 years old, police said.

The man and other employees went to a Marsh store across the street to wait for police. Police said the delivery driver was treated and released at St. Vincent after suffering a graze wound to the neck.
