ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Sept. 28, 2015) – IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe will return to racing Monday.

He’s scheduled to participate in round two of Verizon IndyCar Series testing at Road America in Wisconsin.

This will mark the first time Hinchcliffe has been back in a race car since a crash during practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May. He suffered a thigh injury and required surgery after a piece of his broken suspension pierced his leg. He nearly bled to death as a result of the crash.

Since his surgeries, Hinchcliffe has been rehabilitating and working to regain his strength. He was recently cleared to return to racing.

“I’m under no illusions that it won’t be a massively difficult day,” the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver told IndyCar.com. “Going to a track we haven’t run on top of the physical stress of getting back in (a car), but that’s OK. I’m definitely ready for a little hard work.”
