INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 10, 2015) -- A person was fatally struck early Thursday morning on the east side of Indianapolis in a hit-and-run crash.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, the victim was a man in his 30s or early 40s. Police received an anonymous 911 call around 4:45 a.m. saying a person was down on Massachusetts Avenue near Producers Lane. Investigators have found some evidence at the scene, including a side mirror. They couldn't say if it was directly involved in the crash, however.

Investigators were checking surveillance video at a nearby Marathon gas station that may show the vehicle involved. Earlier, they said they were looking for a dark-colored SUV with front-end damage.
