Fugitive captured after manhunt that sparked school lockdown in Connersville

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 10, 2015) — Connersville area schools went on lockdown Thursday morning as police searched for a fugitive.

The man was later caught just before 12:30 p.m.

The lockdown included the high school, career center, pre-kindergarten center and an elementary school, according to the Fayette County School Corporation.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, investigators were looking for Charles Stephens. Police said he evaded arrest Thursday morning and ran from police. He was considered armed and dangerous, police said.
