(Sept. 3, 2015) – USDA food inspectors found small metal pieces in pork sausage patties, resulting in a recall of nearly 90,000 pounds of the product.

The alert involves 24-ounce cartons and 13.5-pound cases of Johnsonville Grillers in cheddar cheese and bacon flavor. They were produced on May 13 and have a “best by date” of 12/29/15 and establishment label “EST. 425B.”

The company shipped the product to 11 states, including Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio.

The manufacturer, Kenosha Beef International LTD, discovered the problem after receiving complaints from customers who said they found small pieces of metal in the patties. No injuries have been reported, and the USDA was investigating the source of the problem.

Customers who’ve purchased the patties shouldn’t eat them. They should instead throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
