Fire at Hardee’s on east side causes major damage
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 2, 2015)– An east side restaurant suffered damages in a fire, causing it to close early Wednesday evening.
The employees at Hardee’s in the 4400 block of East 10th St. noticed smoke coming from the vents in the dining area and immediately called 911 after evacuating everyone from the structure. Fire crews arrived and found light smoke in the restaurant and coming from the roof. Upon further investigation, fire was found in the ceiling and in the roof of the building.
Crews were able to cut through the metal roof and gain access to the cockloft, making quick work of the fire while preventing spread to the rest of the building.
Damage to the building is estimated to be around $75,000.
Marion County Health Department are working with managers to insure food and cleanup is managed properly. It is unclear as to when they will be able to re-open.
