Closed I-65 bridge checked by geotechnical experts
TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (Aug. 8, 2015)–The I-65 northbound bridge over Wildcat Creek got a closer look Saturday by some geotechnical experts.
The group worked to test and analyze soils and come up with a detailed plan to address and prevent further pier settlement.
Structural engineers monitoring the project noticed movement in the riverbank pier and ordered the bridge closed Friday afternoon.
State Highway officials say they won’t have a bridge reopening date until soil testing and analysis is completed.
I-65 northbound merges to one lane and is diverted onto U.S. 52 at Exit 141 north of Lebanon. Motorists are directed to follow U.S. 52 north for nearly 17 miles, then turn left at State Road 28.
The detour directs drivers to follow State Road 28 west for about 10 miles, then turn right onto U.S, 231. Follow U.S. 231 north fro about 33 miles until it intersects with I-69 again in White County.
