‘Big Red’ named world’s largest male hog on first day of Indiana State Fair
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 8, 2015) – Big Red took the title of “World’s Largest Male Hog” on the first day of the Indiana State Fair.
Big Red was just the second hog to enter the ring and there was no doubt he was a favorite. Weighing in at 1,134 pounds, Big Red was quite the sight to see.
His owner, Rick Whistler, and his 4-year-old daughter, Teagan, feed him about 20 to 25 pounds of food per day.
Big Red beat out 5 other hogs to win the title. It was hist first competition.
He weighs just over 100 pounds more than last year’s winner, Spotosaurus Rex. Big Red will be hanging out in the Swine Barn for the remainder of his stay.
