Suspect preliminarily charged following stabbing at L.A. Fitness in Lawrence
LAWRENCE, Ind. (July 21, 2015)– Police say a suspect is in custody after a stabbing at an L.A. Fitness center in Lawrence.
Officers were called to 9930 Pendleton Pike around 3:15 p.m. on a report of a person stabbed.
The 20-year-old victim was working out and according to witnesses, was “ambushed” and stabbed once in the back.
The victim was located and transported to a hospital in critical condition. Police say the suspect, Bryan Fearman, 22, was located in the 5500 block of Purpura Drive, about a block away. A weapon was recovered.
Police said Fearman and victim knew each other, and the attack was not random. Fearman is preliminarily charged with attempted murder.
Nearby National Guard centers were briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution.
