Flooding from storms

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (July 14, 2015) – Some parts of Boone County saw more than five inches of rainfall Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said Prairie Creek is one of the most flooded areas in the state. It sits at more than 11 feet, above the flood stage of nine feet.  It was even higher during the weekend, officials said. The record for the body of water is more than 15 feet.

Boone County residents should expect to see “high water” signs around the area. Emergency officials are urging drivers to heed warnings about flooded roads and allow extra time to reach their destination.
