COLUMBUS, Ind. (June 23, 2015) – A short essay and $150 could win you a custom-built log cabin in Columbus.
The 6,200-square-foot home includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms and an indoor pool. Instead of putting the home on the market, the owners, Tim and Deanna Railing, are asking people interested in getting the house to write an essay with the theme “A Life Well-Lived.”
The short, 250-word essays will be judged “on the basis of addressing the stated theme with creativity and the ability to inspire others,” according to the website for the contest. The winning entry will get the log home and surrounding 4.82 acres as the prize.
The owners hope to attract 4,500 entries. Anyone interested in the home would have to pay a $150 entry fee and must be at least 18 years old. The couple said the home is valued at $675,000 and will refund entry fees if they don’t get enough.
