INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 22, 2015) — Two minors are facing murder charges in connection with two different cases.
Police arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection to the murder of an 18-year-old Indianapolis mother. Kayla Goggins was shot and killed on Crandall Circle near 65th street on Friday night. Police say she was with a group of girls who came to that area to take part in a fight. Neighbors told CBS4 news they believe the fight started over an issue on social media. The fight escalated and Goggins was shot in the chest, although police don’t believe she was even the intended target.
Police also arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a shooting that happened last Tuesday. David Phelps Jr., 19, was shot inside a home on Cluster Pine Drive on June 16. Family members told CBS4 someone kicked-in the door of the home before shooting Phelps. His funeral will take place Monday at The Rock Missionary Baptist Church.
Police are not releasing the name of either suspect in these cases since both suspects are minors.
