INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 15, 2015) — You can check-out brand new businesses and events this summer at one of the oldest buildings in Indianapolis.

The City Market building will be 130 years old next year — but this summer, employees want to make sure you know about the new vendors.

Inside, there are 25 locally owned small businesses and Director of Civic Engagement Chelsea Marburger says the building is full.

“We only have one available space at City Market, which is fantastic, because a few years ago we were only 40% leased.  At this point, we’re almost 100% leased,” Marburger said.

“We’re going through applications trying to make the best choice — instead of having no one we have too many!” Marburger said.

Outside, you can catch the farmers market every Wednesday (now through October, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) with more than 40 Hoosier producers along with a free concert series.  New this summer: Big Brick House Bakery, Mile Square Coffee Roastery and Rocket 88 Doughnuts.  For more information click here.

You’ll notice an upgrade outside as well. On June 24, City Market will host the grand opening for the newly renovated Sun King Market District Stage.  Musical guest Bashiri Asad will be the first guest to play on the new stage. Fore more information, click here.

This is also the first year City Market will host a 4th of July event called “Party on the Plaza.”  Organizers say they saw a need for another family friendly option in our area. Pets are also welcome.  Fore more information, click here.
