(June 3, 2015) – To stand out in a sports drink market dominated by Gatorade, you have to make a bold move—and enlist Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, apparently.
That’s the strategy BodyArmor is employing. The sports drink company released a new ad featuring Luck clad in a leather helmet as a “throwback” quarterback and then in a fur coat emulating NFL legend Joe Namath.
The commercial also features former Notre Dame standout Skylar Diggins, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, Houston Rockets star James Harden, Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout and San Francisco Giants star Buster Posey.
The theme of the commercial? Sports have evolved over the years—hence the famous athletes in old-school garb—and so should sports drinks.
