Beep baseball team fundraises for World Series trip
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 31, 2015) – The Indianapolis Thunder beep baseball team has a tournament coming up next weekend that’s also a fundraiser to get the team to the world series.
Beep baseball is for the blind and visually impaired.
Specially made baseballs allow players to hear rather than see the ball when they`re on the field.
As part of the run up to the World Series at the end of July, teams have to fundraise to get there.
This upcoming tournament is the last time the team is in town this season.
General manager and pitcher Darnell Booker says he believes the game offers more to the players than the thrill of competition.
“It lets them know they can get out there and be competitive and it helps with the teamwork, because beepball is about teamwork, about trust, about camaraderie, just like any other sport,” Booker said.
The tournament, called the Beep Baseball Bonanza, runs from June 5-7 at the Dynamo Soccer Complex.
