WESTFIELD, Ind. (May 6, 2015) – Drivers along U.S. 31 northbound in the Westfield area will need to use detours starting Wednesday morning. Construction crews plan to close certain access ramps in order to work on the new U.S. 31 freeway.
The access from northbound U.S. 31 to State Road 32 and from State Road 32 to northbound U.S. 31 will be closed starting May 6 until around Memorial Day. Contractors will connect pavement from the new northbound ramps at the single-point urban interchange currently being built. The southbound access areas will remain open.
INDOT suggests reviewing the recommended detours before traveling through the affected areas. Drivers going northbound on U.S. 31 must continue north to the interchange at State Road 38, exit and reenter U.S. 31 going southbound. Then, drivers can take the southbound U.S. 31 exit to State Road 32.
Motorists traveling in either direction of State Road 32 must enter southbound U.S. 31, exit to the 161st Street roundabout interchange and reenter northbound U.S. 31.
