CEDARBURG, Wis. (May 3, 2015) – A terminally ill Wisconsin woman was granted her wish for a dream wedding. And it was all made possible by the generosity of local businesses.

More than a hundred people filled the lawn of Cedarburg’s American Legion Saturday to watch Jo Murphy marry her true love. This was her one wish after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer four weeks ago.

Jo Murphy and Phil Zingsheim first met in high school 30 years ago. Two years ago they reconnected on Facebook and knew they were meant to be together.

“It took me a couple months to get her to go out, and we went out, and it was fabulous. We’re famous together,” Zingsheim told WISN.

When Murphy was given just 18 months to live, their friends reached out to the Cedarburg community to create this special day.

Murphy told WISN, “I couldn’t have asked for a better day, the weather was beautiful and a lot of people came out and supported us.”

Everything from the music, to the decorations, and even a popcorn bar was donated by 20 Ozaukee County businesses.

“It means more to us than the world,” said Zingsheim.

Murphy will have the next two weeks off from treatment to enjoy her honeymoon in Orlando, which was also donated.
