Indianapolis man killed on 465
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 18, 2015) – Police are investigating how an Indianapolis man was killed on Interstate 465 on Friday evening.
Indiana State troopers were called to southbound I-465, near the exit for I-70, for a two car crash.
An investigation of the crash showed a male, later identified as Karim Rahmaan, 25 of Indianapolis, had gotten out of his SUV that was pulling a trailer that was carrying a race car, along 465 near mile marker 9.6.
Rahmaan had gotten out to check on the car and while he was between the trailer and the concrete barrier, the trailer was struck by a 1992 Chevrolet van driven by Steve Hornaday, 51, of Greenwood.
Rahmaan was pronounced dead on the scene by the coroner and Hornaday was taken to Methodist hospital in critical condition.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
